Buying from Lyreco? on the Lyreco Portal?

Are you buying your office supplies from a National supplier like Lyreco on the My Lyreco Portal or Office Depot, Viking Direct or Staples?

The above suppliers are just a few suppliers of an industry that provides thousands of suppliers nationwide.

The Office Supplies industry has thousands of independent suppliers who could  not only be able to match the ‘special’ prices you get from Lyreco, Staples, Office Depot, or Viking but could beat them too!

If you’d like to give a local supplier a try then please drop me an email at andy [@] andywhyte.com . I’d be happy to recommend a supplier who could improve your office supplies buying experience by providing better prices, better services, and an online ordering system superior to those like my Lyreco Portal and the systems used by other national suppliers like Staples, Office Depot, and Viking.

Disclaimer: This post is by no means stating as a matter of fact that other Office Supplies companies provide better service or pricing than any of the companies named in this post. It is however my own opinion through my own findings of dealings with ALL of the companies mentioned within this post that better pricing and service can be available through independent local suppliers.

  • A Lyreco Employee pretending to be a customer

Hi, when my prices started looking a bit high I phoned Lyreco customer services and they got the local rep to call in and now my prices are brilliant! The product quality is superior to my local dealers 5 star rubbish, And such quick service too

  • Gobler

I used to buy from Lyreco on the My Lyreco Portal. But we’ve since changed suppliers to a local company and I don’t know about the pricing but the service is much better.

  • http://www.norwichofficesupplies.co.uk Norwich Office Supplies

We supply lots of people with Office Supplies in the Norwich Area and people often say they find us much more competitive than Lyreco. Why not give us a try call 01603 628919 or buy online http://www.norwichofficesupplies.co.uk .

  • http://www.evolveoffice.co.uk Evolve Office

At Evolve Office we supply customers locally (Colchester, Essex and Suffolk) and nationwide and still maintain a high level of customer service with low prices.

If a customer places an order with us and they are based in an area that we cover using our own vehicles we refund the delivery charge and remove it from the customers account for future orders.

We also have a genuine rewards scheme and also a percentage of all our online sales goes to charity.

I wonder if Lyreco would do that?

We still appreciate all our customers even if they only spend a £1 a week it makes no difference to us. In fact some of our customers have bought from us for over twenty years, so we must be doing something right!

Mary u can try lots of local dealers. where abouts are you from?
The my lyreco portal is just lyrecos portal to buy stuff… there are much better places 2 go.

  • mary

hi andy, we buy from lyreco on the portal and were wondering where else we could go?

  • Jeff

Hah, great stuff Andy. We’re always taking customers from Lyreco who are fed up with their profit hungry tactics. The My Lyreco Portal is rubbish too! Get with the times Lyreco!

  • Shaun

A great tip Andy is to tell the lyreco customers NOT to look at swapping suppliers, simply advise them to compare the local stationers prices and steer them towards taking on a second supplier. Lyreco will not like this at all; many independent dealers will be more than happy to put theri money where their mouth is and act as a second supplier – pretty soon when the buyer is in the trend of comparing prices on an ‘order by order basis’ they will see that the local supplier will be cheaper across the WHOLE RANGE.

    GO locals….

I like it Shaun. I really like it. It’s not a model I’ve heard before.
Are you a dealer yourself? Thanks for your comment :)

  • Shaun

yes i think the dealer has the upper hand over the corporates every time as the corporate reps don’t have the flexibility to do what they want on pricing – i have seen quite a few cases lately where Staples have managed to get appointments with senior management at my customers – they fall short when they are asked for prices on everything, they simply cannot sustain this at SME level (i’ll give them their dues it works on the big customer) i also get amazed every time that the corporates fail to highlight how dealers buy and that they are all selling wholesaler products at the end of the day – i know the corporates buy from Spicers and VOW too but if i were selling against a dealer then i would use this a s my first point of attack when selling the benifits of swapping to a corporate.

Funny you should say that… on the previous version of this post (before Lyreco got their lawyers on the case) someone (I guess a employee of a corporate) replied and said about how dealers buy and about how their brand was much better than the apparently cheap and nasty 5 Star brand.

It’s interesting to hear Staples are actively going after your customers. I rarely hear about their corporate side.

What do you find is your strongest win over corporates? personal touch? flexibility?
